Founding KFAR SARAH
A Post Traumatic Growth Eco Healing Center
Creating a holistic healing space: - Which will offer psychotherapy, nutrition, trauma-sensitive yoga, meditation, agriculture, use of innovative assistive and therapeutic technologies, creation, and movement. Accompanied by a personal mentor to help veterans achieve their personal goals.
It is an impact model, accompanied by research, that sustains itself and can be adapted to other spaces and populations. The founders of "Kfar Sarah" and the establishment team include professionals in the field of mental and physical health, social entrepreneurs, businessmen, and technologists.
"Kfar Sarah" operates as a project under the Orev Paratroopers Association. "Kfar Sarah" will operate at Aaronson's Historic Experimental Farm to "Establishment of an agricultural-rehabilitation farm for people injured in military activity".
"Kfar Sarah", will realize the vision of the Aharonson Foundation and the perpetuation of the legacy of Nili and the legacy of Sarah Aaronson.
What is the motive ?
It is important to understand that post trauma is an injury and not a mental illness.
Of the approximately 40,000 post-trauma wounded, currently approximately 8,000 are recognized or are in the process of recognition, and will be entitled to treatment and support from the Ministry of Defense.
In addition, approximately 120,000 are dealing with post-traumatic symptoms that affect their lives and functioning (sub-clinical PTSD).
The quality of life of those who belong to these two groups, as well as their families and those around them, is affected.
Wounded and post trauma come across Difficulties in the circles of life and daily functioning, ffail to realize their potential.
Many avoid mental health treatment either out of shame, guilt or lack of awareness.
While in the world there is a growing awareness that holistic and intensive treatments provide a better answer to these difficulties, in Israel they are given sparingly and only in mental health hospitalization settings.
Our solution
An agricultural farm for recovery and growth that combines holistic treatment.
A space that allows the injured person to deal with the past, the present, with the aim of allowing them to realize their full personal potential in the future in all areas of life, a potential that was diminished by the experiences of military service.
The geographic location (Atlit train station, roads 2 and 4.) allows for easy access to participants, who travel from both the center and the periphery of the country. This also offers a solution to the lack of availability and accessibility to alternative types of treatment, which is usually offered more in the central parts of Israel.
In the future we plan to facilitate at the farm: rehabilitative-therapeutic retreats with "inpatient" conditions, emergency response interventions, and treatments focused on change and rehabilitation - on a daily basis, without the need for hospitalization.
The program includes:
Evidence-based psychotherapy
Mind-body treatments - trauma-sensitive yoga, meditation, mindfulness
Land work and entrepreneurship - innovative agriculture alongside agricultural technologies, energy and creativity.
Use of innovative technologies - virtual reality treatments, pressure chamber, energy efficiency and waste reduction.
Mentoring program - building a personal vision and realizing it accompanied by a mentor (Growth Academy).
Research support, measurement and knowledge sharing (Center for Technologies Assisting Recovery and Research)
